The “Scoop” on Extended Day at Cherokee Elementary
A 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program

Guntersville City Schools Community Education operates Extended Day Programs for students attending Cherokee Elementary School.

Before School – If your child needs care before school you may enroll in the program that begins at 6:30 each morning.  Mrs. Tina Whitmore, who teaches at Guntersville Elementary, will be the teacher.  The class meets at GES in her room. Follow the signs to the right of the main building at Guntersville Elementary School. Students must be accompanied into the classroom by an adult.  Students who attend Cherokee Elementary will be escorted to a designated school bus for the ride to CES at 7:00 each morning.  Cost for this program is $3.00 per day.

After School – If your child needs after school care they may remain at school in our program until 5:30 each afternoon. Students attending after school will report to the lunchroom at the end of school.  They will have a snack and then begin homework.  After homework they will play, do crafts, read and just generally have a good time!  Students will be picked up in the classroom building behind CES (separate from the main building).  Please take the road behind the school to arrive at the pick up area.  Signs will be displayed prominently to give direction.

Payment – A $25.00 registration fee is required of every student.  Tuition is $6.00 per day.  A sliding scale exists for students who receive free/reduced lunch.  If you receive reduced lunch your tuition is $3.00 per day.  If you receive free lunch your tuition is $2.00 per day. If a family has children in more than one Extended Day Program we ask that you pay for each child at the school where they attend.  This keeps us from making bookkeeping errors.  You may pay for Extended Day by using your banks on-line bill paying system.  Ask for information on this!!! Call Community Education or the school office with any questions!!!!!
